Tay Kheng Soon is a well-known architect and was born in 1940. He is a practicing architect and Adjunct professor at NUS school of Architects. In 1964, he had graduated from the school of Architecture. He also had joined the society call SPUR(Singapore Planning and Urban Research Group). Mr. Tay has long been a vocal critic of a wide range of numerous social and urban issues, such as the transportation system, education, public housing, environment, and issues of heritage. The concept of Rubanisation has expanding which used to contemplate the city and the countryside as one space. He also had done some achievements and awards. In 2010, Mr. Tay had awarded the Singapore Institute of Architects Gold Medal and he is a member of the prestigious World Academy of Art and Science. Rubanisation will make for a much healthier
environment, healthier people and healthier
culture—when people meet and interact in public
spaces, where farming and nature is nearby and
people become more human. This is what he had said.
